Easy Buttery Holiday Cookies 1 cup softened butter 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 large egg 1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract, divided 2 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup confectioners sugar 2 to 3 tablespoons heavy or whipping cream or milk Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350° F 2. Beat butter with granulated sugar in large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy for 2-3 minutes 3. Beat in egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla 4. Slowly beat in flour on low speed until blended 5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls with lightly floured hands and arrange on ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart 6. Gently flatten each ball with your lightly floured palm 7. Bake 12 minutes or until cookie bottoms are lightly golden 8. Cool for several minutes on the cookie sheet then move to wire rack to finish cooling 9. Mix confectioners sugar, heavy cream and remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in small bowl until smooth 10. Brush on cookies and decorate with colored sugars, sprinkles or tinted icing |
