Creative Ways to Season Tilapia I remember the first time I had Tilapia. It was in Boston on my birthday and I had never had it before, and I have never forgotten how wonderful it tasted and it wasn't fishy . I have always loved seafood and after that tender, meaty, juicy almond crusted Tilapia meal this fish has remained a part of our regular meal rotation. I typically buy our Tilapia in the seafood section at the local grocery store but if you purchase frozen tilapia, it will stay fresh for up to four months as long as it is wrapped tightly and stored at 0°F. Thaw frozen Tilapia in the refrigerator or under cold running water. Thawed or freshTtilapia should be refrigerated at 32 to 38°F and prepared within two days, but do not refreeze. It is a mild tasting fish which is why it has become very popular. The fresh fillets come from all over the world including places like Africa, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras and Southeast Asia. Millions of pounds of Tilapia are also farm-raised in the United States. Tilapia fish is ranked the fifth most consumed seafood in the United States. And as it has become more popular there have been a slew of delicious Tilapia recipes created. There are so many ways of preparing this fish from grilled, blackened, baked, stir fried, pan fried, poached, steamed, sautéed, stuffed with lobster and crab meat or broiled. Here are some of our favorite recipes for seasoning Tilapia: The Almond Crusted Tilapia recipe has the smooth melted Parmesan cheese along with lemon and garlic pepper. This is a family favorite. The Beer Battered Tilapia with Mango Salsa recipe is a great meal for a Saturday dinner with friends. And if you like your chili powder hot substitute our Cayenne Pepper Hot (a 7 on the heat scale of 10) in place of the mild. Although the Marinated Grilled Tilapia does need marinating this recipe only needs 30 minutes to set the wonderful mixture of flavors of the garlic, wine vinegar and lemon. It is a quick meal even during the week and is cooked on the grill! The combination of Tilapia and crabmeat can’t be beat in the Spicy Tilapia with Crabmeat recipe. The spiciness comes from the pepper sauce and cayenne pepper and it melds wonderfully with the Tilapia and crabmeat. And From Our SpiceBalance.com Blog Well just about everybody has heard of the Mediterranean diet with the heavy emphasis on fish and herbs and that is why we are especially fond of this Mediterranean Tilapia with Madras Curry Quinoa. Not only is it easy to prepare but the Madras Curry really gives the quinoa a delicious taste. Anybody that has followed our blog knows that I could never bring myself to trying fish tacos but my wife went above and beyond to convince me otherwise (like wife's do) and she pulled out our first Tilapia Fish Tacos recipe... I will never doubt her again. Now we are always trying new taste sensations and I came across a Moroccan Tilapia inspired recipe that featured a mango salsa with fresh cilantro that really gave a sweet and savory touch.
