Our Certified Organic Onion Powder provides a delicious onion flavor and aroma, while also being an excellent choice when you are pressed for time and you don’t need the onion texture. Wonderful to use in your gravies, sauces, spice blends, soups, spreads and meats.
It takes 9 pounds of raw onions to make 1 pound of dehydrated onion. You should use Onion Flakes, when you are looking for onion flavor and aroma and you are also in need of some texture in your dish. Onion granules are ideal to easily and quickly dispense onion flavor, but not texture. Granules are also easier to measure than are onion flakes and they don’t cake like powdered onion can.
You can effortlessly add onion powder directly to any dish that has sufficient moisture to rehydrate the onions during the cooking process. If the dish doesn’t have quite enough moisture then you should rehydrate before adding into the mix.
To rehydrate, pour the onion powder into a small bowl or saucer and cover with water. Allow the onion powder to soak up the water for approximately 15 minutes then drain any excess liquid before using. You can also mix the powder with some cool water to make a smooth paste that can be added into your dish towards the end your meal preparation.
The distinctive taste of onion is of course a staple for every kitchen and we offer it in several convenient-to-use dried forms: Onion Granules, Flakes, non organic Onion Powder and Certified Organic Onion Flakes.
Helpful hint – in place of one medium fresh onion you can use 1-1/3 Tablespoon of onion powder.
