Low Sodium Mexican Turkey Sloppy Joes
Sodium = 163 mg 1 lb lean ground turkey 2/3 cup diced onion 1/2 cup green pepper 2 diced jalapeno peppers with seeds removed 1 cup low sodium ketchup 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder 2 tablespoons Salt Free Chili Powder 1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard Seed Powder 1/4 teaspoon salt substitute 1/4 teaspoon Cracked Black Pepper 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil Directions: 1. In a nonstick skillet add oil over medium to high heat and saute onion, jalapenos and green pepper until they soften 2. Set aside 3. Cook turkey in same skillet crumbling into small pieces 4. Add the rest of the ingredients to the skillet and stir and cook for 5 minutes 5. Turn heat to simmer and continue cooking for 10 minutes 6. Serve on buns of your choice Serves: 4 |
