Native to the Mediterranean region and southwestern Asia, coriander can be found growing wild in Africa, Egypt and England. While it is grown in various locations around the world the major producers are in Canada, Holland and Morocco but it is also harvested in China, the Czech Republic, Egypt and Romania. Our Coriander Seed Powder is cultivated from Canada and Morocco sources. Coriander has a citrusy, warm, spicy flavor that is particularly popular in Mexican, South American, African, Chinese, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Southeastern Asia cuisines. Dry roasted Coriander is a key ingredient most Indian curries and Garam Masala,in North African ras el hanout and in Middle Eastern baharat. In Latin American and Mexican recipes coriander is often combined with cumin for a powerful one two punch of flavor. With its fairly mild taste, cooks tend to use coriander seeds in larger amounts than many other spices. Fun fact – Cilantro comes from the same plant as the coriander seed. Cilantro is harvested from the leaves and coriander from the seeds. We also offer Certified Organic Coriander Seed Powder and non organic Whole Coriander Seeds. Use in chili, stews, soups, and with fish, chicken (grilled or breaded), game and meats. Coriander works well in combination with – cumin, allspice, garlic, chili powder, cinnamon, cloves, fennel, nutmeg and ginger. Helpful hint: Dry roasting the seeds enhances their flavor.
