Sweet basil has a sweet, spicy aroma with a hint of anise and clove while the flavor is a bit peppery with some subtle anise and mint undertones. Basil has become the most popular herb in the United States mostly due to its unique relationship when used in combination with garlic and tomatoes.
This organic sweet basil is considered by many to be the best type of basil partly due to the highly advanced drying process used by the California growers. We also carry an Imported Sweet Basil that is preferred by some of our customers as it isn’t quite as strong as the domestic.
Sweet basil goes great with any tomato or pasta dish (including of course pizza) and also with cream cheese, eggs, mozzarella cheese, olives and zucchini. Works well in combination with garlic, marjoram, oregano and parsley.
