Flavor Trends 2009
Recently Specialty Food Magazine did their annual flavor trends for the upcoming year and this will give you an idea on what to soon see on restaurant menus and the shelves of high end food suppliers. Much of these new flavors have to do with the increase in world travel and the continued influx of immigration– and this leads to our own version of the world to continue to shrink as we get exposed to more tastes from more places that we then naturally want to share with close friends and family. In this article it mentions that Southeastern Asia as the region of the world that is experiencing the highest growth of tourism so naturally we are seeing more Asian influenced spices. And for 2010 – do be surprised to see flavors influenced by the sub-Sahara Africa (which was #2 in travel destinations last year) begin to emerge towards the end of ’09.
