Smart Sugar and Salt Substitutions
It feels like no matter where you go someone is trying to be more health conscious, it might even be you! Here at Spices Inc. we're always trying to help our customers make choices that are healthy, but still delicious. Many of our customers are watching their sodium intake, but why not look into some sugar substitutes while you're at it, too! By trying out new salt and sugar substitutes we can make our diets healthier one step at a time.
Watching your sugar consumption? You can substitute allspice, anise, cinnamon, cloves, fennel or ginger in place of some of the called for sweeteners in fruit and dessert recipes.
Looking for a salt-free alternative? You can reduce your salt intake by substituting strong, flavorful spices such as basil, coarse ground black pepper, cumin, curry and oregano. Experiment with a variety of spice blends in your dining room table salt shaker – you’ll be in for a wonderful surprise.
