An essential ingredient for many Mexican and African recipes, these red pepper flakes will add some sharp flavor without overpowering your taste buds with their heat (at just 15,000 Scoville Heat Units which is about a 1.5 on a scale of 10). Our red pepper flakes are sourced from the US where they are dried, seeded and crushed and these dark red almost burgundy colored peppers are ideal when you want to perk up pizza, salads, chili, stir-fries, soups or vegetable recipes.
Many home chefs will also refer to these as red pepper flakes or crushed red pepper. And since they are salt-free they also are an excellent addition to a low-sodium diet.
In many cultures these are used as a table condiment but we have found that the flavor tends to last a bit longer if they are kept refrigerated.
Works well with most spices, Coriander, Lemon Juice, Lime Juice and Coconut Milk.
