Rose Salt is actually speckled pink and is sometimes referred to as Bolivian Pink Salt. The pinkish hue comes from its high iron content. Rose Salt also contains many other minerals that the human body needs including calcium, magnesium and potassium.
This exotic salt is harvested from the Andes Mountain range in Bolivia, South America. This crystal rock salt was covered for more than 3 million years after a volcano erupted and covered their salt beds with volcanic lava. As the lava cooled and solidified it became volcanic rock. This volcanic rock protected these salt beds from pollution while also fortifying the salt with a wide assortment of minerals. Our Rose Salt is harvested by hand, a very time consuming process, and then crushed, cleaned of impurities and ground into either a coarse or fine texture and then carefully stored so that the salt retains its purity, freshness and natural balance of minerals. Our Bolivian Rose Salt is offered in a coarse grind and we like to use it more in a salt grinder to finish off a dish. The light rose color is especially delightful when presented in a clear salt shaker or mill. It’s intriguing appearance is matched by its rich, pure taste that is mild and slightly sweet. Add this Rose Salt to your dinner table when you want to impress friends and family with not only the unique flavor of this gourmet salt but it’s equally rich history. If you’re a fan of Gourmet Salt you’ll love our growing selection and if you particularly enjoy the red and pink salts then don’t miss our Himalayan Pink and Hawaiian Alaea Red Salts. |
