The use of chili powders can be traced back to early Indian curry powders and its American roots date back to the late 19thcentury. Our popular chili powder is salt free and is hand crafted in small batches. Hand blended from Ancho chiles, Mulato Chiles, Chile de Arbol, cumin, garlic, Mexican Oregano and smoked paprika. While we consider this a good all around general purpose chili powder it is loaded with spicy flavor and has just a bit of kick to it. This is not a cheap and bland all purpose chili powder that you may be used to.
Some folks have been known to get a bit confused when a recipe calls for Chile Pepper (or chili pepper or chilie pepper)which is actually referring to ground or dried chile peppers and when a recipe calls for Chili Powder it is referring to a mixture that contains ground chile (or chili) peppers and other spices.
