The use of chili powders can be traced back to early Indian curry powders and its American roots date back to the late 19thcentury. Our popular chili powder is salt free and is blended from a combination of dark roasted, ground chili peppers, cumin, garlic, oregano, coriander, cloves and allspice.This is considered a mild general purpose chili powder. Chili powder is the primary ingredient in Chili Con Carne.
Some folks have been known to get a bit confused when a recipe calls for Chile Pepper (or chili pepper or chilie pepper)which is actually referring to ground or dried chile peppers and when a recipe calls for Chili Powder it is referring to a mixture that contains ground chile (or chili) peppers and other spices.
We carry a large selection of chili powders --- Traditional Chili Powder (includes salt), and then we have some more robust --- Hill Country Chili Powder, Sweet Chili Powder, Chili Con Carne and then for those that like a bit of heat our Hot Hill Country Chili Powder.
