Jump Start Your Diet Oatmeal Spice Set

We've all heard the saying "breakfast is the most important meal of the day", well it truly is. This is even more important for those looking to lose weight. A good breakfast helps to jump start your metabolism and gets your body burning calories.
But for fat burning purposes this is where oatmeal really shines. While it falls under the complex (starchy) carbs category it packs an almost match made in heaven balance between protein, carbohydrates and Omega-6 fatty acids (the good fat) and to boot it also scores very low on the glycemic index making it one of the top burn fat and get crazy lean foods.
Now with all of this being said… not all oatmeal is created equal. You want to stick with good old fashioned rolled or quick oats. Quaker Oats has been around for forever and they are by far the best. Stay away from the sugar filled instant oatmeal.
The only problem with oatmeal is that it can be kind of bland. So add some fruit and seasonings. If you’ve never tried to seasoning your oatmeal with apples, pears, pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling), bananas, raisins, or any of the in seasoning you are in for a real treat!
Here are my 4 favorite oatmeal seasonings:
Pumpkin Pie Spice - this is one of my favorites especially when paired with canned pumpkin puree (where 1/2 cup only has 40 calories). Add in 1-2 teaspoons and mix in with some Greek or no fat vanilla yogurt and your taste buds will dance for joy. Hand blended from Saigon cinnamon, ginger root, clove and nutmeg.
Apple Pie Spice - another wonderful addition to my oatmeal arsenal and this is especially good with sliced apples and pears. I like to add 1-2 teaspoons before I heat this in the microwave. Apple Pie Spice, or Apple Pie Seasoning as it is sometimes called, is a delightful mixture of sweet spices made in many versions. Our Apple Pie Spice is superior to store bought brands as ours is hand blended with Saigon cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, ginger root and cardamom (this is the secret ingredient to an out-of-this-world flavor).
Pure Vanilla Bean Powder - When you cook with vanilla bean powder you’ll find it retaining more flavor and aroma than vanilla extracts and infinitely easier to use that whole beans. The subtly sweet yet rich flavor of pure vanilla powder is perfect when using in your desserts, or on your morning oatmeal, French toast, fresh fruit, ice cream, pancakes or waffles. We’ve also found it to be a delicious substitute just about any place we would use cinnamon.
Saigon Cinnamon - The world’s most aromatic cinnamon, this Vietnamese cinnamon has the highest concentration of essential oils of any cinnamon currently found in the world today. The oil content of this comes in at 5% where most grocery store versions come in around 2%. Most cinnamon has a subtle sweetness to it at best but what we really love about this cinnamon is the eye-opening sweetness and hearty spiciness that some call similar to “red hot candy”. We are especially fond of this cinnamon in our oatmeal as it practically melts throughout, providing an unmistakable cinnamon flavor in every bite. It will transform your oatmeal from the expected to extraordinary.
