Ginger Bread Waffles
1 teaspoon Korintje Cinnamon Powder 1 teaspoon Ginger Powder 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup whole wheat flour 1 cup all purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon Sea Salt 1 1/4 cup buttermilk 1 egg, separated 1 egg white 1/4 cup dark molasses 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Directions: 1. Preheat waffle iron. 2. Add the first 9 ingredients to a bowl and stir until well combined. 3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg yolk, molasses and oil. 4. Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture until just blended, avoid over mixing. 5. Beat the 2 egg whites until stiff peaks form and them gently fold into batter. 6. Pour batter into waffle iron without overfilling. Consult manufacturers directions for the optimal amount of batter and cooking times. |
