This limited edition spice set has one of the craziest names we have come across and immediately made us laugh before we even saw Rebecca's selection of spices, seasoning blends and gourmet salts. She certainly touches on some great selections for anybody that wants to add a variety of flavor to your spice cabinet.
This spice set was created by Rebecca B. of Davenport, Iowa and here is what she had to say about choosing these particular products "I can blame my love for cooking on my parents. They cooked it all, from Indian, French, Spanish, Chinese to Italian. Once started cooking I added Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Mexican to the mix. My daughter's favorite food? Samosas, Hummus and her daddy's meatsauce LOL. My son is still young but he grooves a good Tandoori Chicken".
Here are Rebecca's 10 selections:
Ras el Hanout - The literal translation for Ras El Hanout is “top of the shop” and this Moroccan style curry with a kick is like all curries in that it can be made with a wide variety of ingredients depending on the cook. Some home chefs refer to this as Moroccan Seasoning.
Fleur de Sel - Favored by discriminating cooks this is widely considered as the “caviar of salts”, Fleur de Sel translates to "flower of salt" and has been harvested in France's Guerande region since the seventh century.
Madras Curry Powder - Madras curry is the style of curry that western tastes expect from a curry powder. But don't mistake Madras Curry for a bland curry powder as it is certainly rather complex. We grind the spices for our Madras Curry in small weekly batches to ensure freshness.
Italian Seasoning - Italian Seasoning is incredibly versatile as you can add it to vinegar & oil for a quick salad dressing, marry it with some top quality olive oil and use for dipping bread and of course you can add it to any tomato-based dish – from lasagna to spaghetti to pizza.
Baharat - Use this Pan-Mediterranean seasoning to add some wonderful flavor to your ground meat, couscous, chicken, beef, vegetables, soup, stew, rice, meat loaf and meatballs. We have also found that using this on grilled meats added some surprising depth of flavor. Use as a marinade by mixing it with some olive oil and lime juice.
Adobo Seasoning - Adobo is a seasoning blend with a south of the border flair and it is generally rubbed or sprinkled on seafood and meat before grilling or frying. Chicken and pork are the two most common meats used in adobo seasoned recipes. Use can also use our Adobo to season your chili meat (beef or turkey), guacamole, black beans, red beans or tacos.
Spanish Paprika - Spanish Paprika is also referred to as Sweet Paprika. Hungarian paprika has typically been used by those who prefer more heat, while the Spanish Paprika by those who prefer a milder flavor with a touch of sweetness.
Moroccan Vegetable Rub - When you are looking for something a bit different for your vegetables our Moroccan inspired Vegetable Rub is the perfect treat. This vegetable seasoning will quickly become a hit with friends and family alike as Morocco spices will provide an exotic flare to corn on the cob, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, squash and zucchini.
Lemon Zest - Using lemon peel (also called lemon zest) will save you time in cooking when the recipe calls for lemon zest. Traditionally this was most frequently called for in baking recipes but we are now finding it appearing more often in recipes such as marinades, vegetables, chicken, dressings, seafood and rice.
Maharajah Curry Powder - This is our superior grade curry powder and many of our customers consider this to be the best curry powder with its gorgeous, full-bodied taste and just a little goes a long way. This curry is a bit sweet but not considered hot and is ideal for adding magnificent color and unmatched flavor to seafood and chicken curries.
