An Ethiopian Seasoning blend Berbere is the culinary foundation of the Ethiopian cuisine. Also called Berbere Spice, Berber Spice and Ethiopian Berbere. As with many seasoning spice blends from around the world there are as many variations as there are regions, villages and families. Many times this mixture is called the cupboard mix as it seems to have a little bit of everything tossed in – but the underlying prominent spices in Berbere are always centered around the heat of pepper – cayenne, paprika, chili flakes and black pepper (in some variation).
