This is another of our "Special Edition Spice Sets" and was created by Wendy W. of San Antonio, Texas. Wendy really hit this one out of the park when it comes to selecting bold, robust seasonings. These sensational flavor enhancers will bring out the best in your chicken, steaks and fish with lots of spice but not an over abundance of heat.
Each of these blends of spices and herbs has the origins as a cornerstone of a regional cuisine from both this country and around the globe. These blends have been honed through generations and the end result is a carefully calculated combination of spices and herbs that create an orchestra of flavors.
Here are Wendy’s 10 selections:
Baharat - We find it to be a delightfully complex blend that is savory with hints of sweetness and heat and we like to use it as an all purpose seasoning when we’re in the mood for some Middle Eastern flavor. Use this Pan-Mediterranean seasoning to add some wonderful flavor to your ground meat, couscous, chicken, beef, vegetables, soup, stew, rice, meat loaf and meatballs.
Greek Seasoning - Our Greek Seasoning is perfect for making your own gyros sauce or for marinating your Mediterranean style chicken gyros or beef, lamb, chicken or pork shisk-ka-bobs. This seasoning is outstanding on grilled or baked chicken and fish.
Hill Country - Our Hill Country Chili Powder blend was inspired by the beautiful hilly area around Austin Texas. And true to its Tex-Mex roots this chili powder has a flavor that is deep, complicated and loaded with spicy peppery heat without being overly hot. This one has quickly become one of our top three chili powders.
Lime Pepper - This is one of the more unique pepper blends that we carry. You can find a handful of lime peppers on the market but they tend to have other ingredients – typically salt, garlic, onion, citrus salt and of course the wonderfully appealing "anti-caking agents". Our hand blended lime pepper was first requested by a Tucson area restaurant that asked us to create a pure Lime Pepper using just lime zest and several mesh sizes of Malabar pepper.
Manzanillo Seasoning - Inspired by the beautiful resort city of Manzanillo, on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, this seasoning is ideal when you sprinkle it on your tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas and tostados. We’ve hand-mixed this salt free seasoning for those that prefer their blends loaded with spicy chile flavor but don't want it super hot.
Maharajah Style Curry - This is our superior grade curry powder and many of our customers consider this to be the best curry powder with its gorgeous, full-bodied taste and just a little goes a long way. This curry is a bit sweet but not considered hot and is ideal for adding magnificent color and unmatched flavor to seafood and chicken curries.
Smoky Citrus Salt - This is a gourmet flavored salt that we did a great deal of research and testing on. We wanted a robust salt blend and this has received rave reviews with its delightful citrus flavor with just a hint of smokiness blended in. This is a delectable seasoning to use on grilled fish or chicken, shrimp stir fries, roasted vegetables and even on the rim of a margarita glass.
Chipotle Salt - We love developing new products and we were inspired to create this one after experimenting with a habanero salt that we felt had just a bit too much heat. We liked this seasoning salt best on chicken and fish in our test kitchens and used it more as a finishing seasoned salt than a cooking salt.
Louisiana Fish Seasoning - Our Louisiana Fish Seasoning has it's roots firmly established with the seasoning influences of Louisiana region and you will find this a delight for your fish, oysters or shrimp. We especially like this with our salmon and tilapia fillets. You can also use it in dirty rice, fries, vegetables or anything that you want to give some Cajun flavor to.
Espresso Rub - This delicious Espresso rub has the deep richness of coffee combined with the brown sugar to provide an ideal caramelized crust on your steak. Now while we love this seasoning best on a good steak (i.e. T-Bone or Porterhouse) we also enjoyed it on bolder fish like tuna and swordfish.
