Week Four – Training for a 5K

Week 4 was good – although I only got 2 days running.  Saturday was beautiful, but I had a terrible headache and I did not push myself to run.  I am not really sure I need to have 6 days of workout.  I work hard all week and have a full time job – plus I work on our websites on the weekend.  I really enjoy taking it easy on Saturday – is that really so bad?  There is still housework, laundry, groceries, etc that happen on the weekend – so I am not completely veggin” out.

Anyway, the point is to decrease my 5K running time from 41.31 mins. This morning I hit 3.1 mi (5K) at 40.30 – so I am doing what I set out to do.  For the next few weeks, I am going to focus on getting that time down – if I can do it in 2 days a week running – then I am ok with that.  If I feel like running on Saturday, I will – if not – I won”t.  No guilt.

p.s.  I am so glad it is finally Spring!! :-)

Here’s what I did this past week:

  • Mon – Interval Running on Treadmill 35 mins – 2.62 mi
  • Tues – Weight Training 30 mins + 15 min aerobic warm up
  • Wed – Interval Running on Treadmill 35 mins – 2.69 mi
  • Thur – Weight Training 30 mins + 15 min aerobic warm up
  • Fri – Weight Training 30 mins
  • Sat – OFF
  • Sun - OFF
