Week Three - Training for a 5K

Week 3 was a little bit of a bust.  Daily life really got in the way of my plans – but I am not discouraged – it is just a reality.  I was humming along after my weekend and the great weather.  It was so nice to run outside – I was looking forward to doing it again this week – it was just not to be.  Although the week started out promising – it started to get off track on Tuesday when Greg took ill with a nasty stomach bug.  It did not seem to get to me – but I knew I needed to slow down a bit and keep myself healthy or I would be in bed too.  I slept in on Wednesday and did not run at the gym.  Greg was down Tuesday and Wednesday but feeling much better on Thursday.  Back to the gym for both of us Thursday and Friday.  I had added a Saturday run to my schedule – and would run at the gym if I couldn”t run outside – but I skipped again because I needed to go into the office for a while.  It was rainy and cold and my energy was just blah!

So I start week 4 knowing that I have to work hard and make up some ground.  The good news is that the weather is supposed to break, the snow is melted and we are looking at possibly 60 degrees by mid week.  We have an extra hour of daylight since Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend.  Not to mention that next Saturday will be the first day of Spring!!  Is it possible that I made it through another NE Pennsylvania winter?   I feel the motivation coming back!!  :-)

Here’s what I did this week:

  • Mon – Interval Running on Treadmill 35 mins
  • Tues – Weight Training 30 mins + 15 min aerobic warm up
  • Wed – OFF
  • Thur – Weight Training 30 mins + 15 min aerobic warm up
  • Fri – Weight Training 30 mins
  • Sat – OFF
